MONDAY EVENING,
fifth feneration from Confucius, and
president of the Provincial Council I
of Shantung Province, is among the
well-known Chinese who have
recently arrived in Paris to urge a
reconsideration of the conference
decision to turn Shantung Province
over to the Japanese.
Mr. Kong speaks English and like
all the other members and attaches
of the Chinese delegation, wears
i modern clothes.
i He Is most eloquent In his plea
L for a restoration to China Immediately
s of the historic province which Ger-
many wrested away from It by force
China's sacred mountain, Tai-shan
t and the home of Confucius make this

province more sacred to Chinese than
any other portion of the Republic.
"We thought German imperialism
had been driven out of China." Dr.
Kong said In a recent talk to news
paper men; but It has only been sup
planted by the Imperialism of Japan
which is even a greater menace to
China.

By Associated Press.
ReTa!, Esthonia, July 7.—The crack
regiment of the new Esthonian Army
1B one organized and financed by an
American citizen. H. C. Retsser. It
is composed of cavalry, infantry and
artillery units, 1,000 men, and has
been fighting for several months.
This discovery was made by an
American Red Cross mission which
arrived here a few days ago with a
shipload of supplies for the relief
of the country.
JULY 7,1919.
Mr. Relsser hid already organised
a small Red Croaa hospital of fifty
beds. The first articles which this
hospital requested of the American
relief workers were an American
flag and a Red Cross flag. When both
