BELGIANS WILL VISIT U. S. AND 4 PARADE CITIES Special Corps Under Major Dirix Will Sec All Big Towns By Associated Press. Brussels. March 28.—A special corps of Belgian soldiers, at the in vitation of the United States govern ment, will x'isit the United States to take part in parades in the principal cities. The corps will he composed of a platoon of grenadiers, one of chasseurs and one of infantrymen, and xvill he under the command of Major Dirix. Just how long the Belgian soldiers will remain in America is not known here, nor is it known as to just what festivities they will take part in. It is believed they will visit practically all of the big cities in the country before their return home. Whether they will be in the States in time for the Victory loan campaign is not known. Jams, Jellies and Canned Fruits Needed by Hospital Although the preserving season is months away and housewives have per haps not given this job a thought, but at a meeting of the Flower (luild. of the Harrisburg hospital, held yester day afternoon this was one of the principal topics discussed. The Guild is anxious to know how many friends the hospital has in this city and near by towns and the names of the persons who are willing to contribute jellies and preserves to that institution when the canning season arrives. This will he no easy job and to look after this work a special committee, of which Mrs. George \\. Bander, 1 *J-0 North Second street is chairman, was appointed. The work of the committee will be to secure the names of the persons who are willing to donate jellies and preserves and then send to them empty glasses and jars to be fill ed ami returned when the proper time conies. Heretofore this has been an annual job for the Guild, but on account of the war this task was eliminated last year, consequently the supply of jellies is now very low. By economical meas ures it is believed that the present supply can lie stretched until the pre serving season. As the list of persons who have made contributions of this kind in years gone by has been lost, the com mittee in charge will have Its bands full this year, but by sending all names and addresses to the home of th • chair man iho amount of work will he great ly lessened.
