ODD FIND IN OYSTER SHELL i Chambersburg, Pa., Feb. 18.—At Washington Hotel here is being ex hibited in a large glass receptacle fl the registry desk a deepsea fish hjlout three inches in length, which sias found in an oyster. The fisli has been identified as a "bullhead." The strange fish came to the hotel in a shipment of oysters from Vivalve, N. J. The oysters were taken to the kitchen and when a particular ly large one was opened instead of an oyster the "bullhead" was curl ed up between the shells. The fish was frozen—are are the systers— but when placed in water it soon emerged from its hibernation and is now quite lively. The secre tary of agriculture und some other officials may have salaries- "equal lized," but beyond that there will bo little doing. The bills for the general increase on the Hill may never be presented. Department Bills Out Two of the administration bills re organizing departments were report ed to the house last night by the appropriation committee and pass ed for the first time. One relates to tho governor's office and the other to the department of the secretary of the Commonwealth. The appro priations committee reported out the Class bill for a commission to erect a statue to Theodore Roosevelt and the Soldiers Orphans' school and several state hospital deficiency bill*. Judge Will Charge Jury Today in the Scott Nearing Case B\ Associated Press New York, Feb. 18.—Both sides summed up yesterday in the case of Scott Nearing, former college pro fessor, on trial in Federal court for alleged seditious writings during the \yir, and Judge Mayer will charge the jury to-day. After Nearing had made the ar gument on his own behalf. Earl Barnes, Assistant Federal District Attorney, reviewed the case for the Government. He declared that in expressing his opinionss concerning the war Nearing had done so for the purpose of obstructing the orderly process of law*, merely because lie did not agree With the law. It was added that Mr. Page felt that he had done all he could do to serve the Interests of the United States in Italy and further the ef forts of President Wilson to make more firm the ties between the two countries. THIEVES AT MARYSVILLE Marysvlllc, Pa., Feb. 18.—After territories on both sdes of Marys ville had suffered from depredations of thieves for several weeks, Marys ville had her first visit last evening. The only booty secured as far as is known, was some foodstuffs, taken from the back porch of B. D. Bare, Front street- Two men, one white and one col ored, were discovered at tho Bare home about 7 o'clock in the even ing. They made a getaway, but later returned and again escaped. A posse was hastily formed and men, armed with shot guns and revolvers, made a thorough search of the borough, but without success. ASSISTED AT FUNERAL New Cumberland, Pa., Feb. 18. The Rev. A. R. Ayres. pastor of Trinity United Brethren church, was called to Duncannon yesterday to as sist at the funeral of Harry Gintzer. The Rev. Mr. Ayers was a former pastor of the family.
