'The Susquehanna river and its inches should be made navigable m the Chesapeake Bay to Bing mpton, N. Y.; the West Branch, far as Clearfield; the Juniata er, to Hollidaysburg; and the nestoga, to Lancaster. Over half the total area of the state is fed the Susquehanna river. It passes ough twenty-six counties having lopulation of 2,200,000, including sat manufacturing and agricul •al districts and the anthracite il regions; it penetrates the soft il and the oil districts; lumber, ne quarries, brick kilns, iron and el works, and industries of all ids and descriptions are found on th banks of the river and its inches.
