Grate Methodist Episcopal Church,
State street near Third, will ho the
scene of a special memorial and \ ie
tory service on Sunday evening, No
vember 21, at 7.30 o'clock.
The first gold stars will be added
to the Graco church service banner
iu memory of two of lier sons who
have given their all for liberty and
righteousness. The. first gold star
to be put on the service banner will
represent the sacrifice of Private
Robert A. 8011, a life-long mem'
her of Grace church, who served
in Company C, 11th Regiment of
Infantry. U. S. Marine Corps. He
died at Base Hospital 902, Camp
Quantico, Quantico, Va., on Septem
ber 27, the very day the other mem
bers of his regiment sailed for
Fiance. The other gold star will
represent the sacrifice of Lieuten
ant Harold Fox. Company D, 316 th
Infantry, who died on September 26,
somewhere in France. Lieutenant
Fox was an honorury member of the
Grace church service banner, as he
was a member of Grace church for
seven years, during the pastorate of
his father. Dr. John D. Fox, anil
transferred his membership to his
father's church in Philadelphia a
very short time before lie entered
the service.
The first red star will also be
added to the service banner on Sun
day evening, in honor of Miss Julia
Stamm. the popular captain of Dog
wood Troup No. 1 of the Girl Scouts
of America, who is now doing can
teen work somewhere in France. In
addition to these stars there will be
twenty-tliree more service stars add
ed to the already lull Grace church
service banner, and fitting services
will attend the placing of each one
of these stars on the banner.
At the special memorial and vic
tory service, Dr. Bagnell will speak
on the topic "Moral and Spiritual
Values of the War." The Grace
church chorus choir, under the lead
ership of Professor John W. Phillips,
will sing as a memorial to the two
gold stars, "Hark. Hark, My Soul,"
by Shelley, and in honor of the twen
ty-three new service stars and the
one red star. The Strain Upraised,"
by Dudley Buck.
In the morning at 10.30 o'clock
Dr. Bagnell will preach on the topic,
"Spiritual Reciprocity."
There will be a big Red Cross
meeting in Grace cliurch on Mon
day evening, with David E. Tracy
presiding, and Dr. Bagnell giving his
newest lecture on '\orktown and
Sedan" or "America Pays Her Debt
to France." Admission will be free,
but a special ottering will be taken
for tlie benefit of the Grace ehureli
auxiliary of the American Red Cross.
On Thursday morning, November
28, at 10.30 o'clock, an extraordin
ary loyalty anil Thanksgiving serv
ice will be held.
Further notices of the Red Cross
meeting and the loyalty and Thanks
giving service will be made in this

of the young people's work in the

The State Executive Committee
will meet in the morning at 10
o'clock in the Y. M. C. A. building.

delegates will be guests of the Alle
gheny county Endeavorers. Lunch
eon at noon will be served at the
Kaufman Si Baer dining room.
Plans are being completed for a
6 o'clock dinner in honor of Dr. and
Mrs. Francis E. Clark, Of Boston;

troops have passed through the port
of Durban, South Africa, en route
for England, and this fact gave a
Durban Baptist Society the oppor
tunity to hold socials for the boys.

effective Christinas work. Dr. Herman has just re
turned from the great New York meeting and will
give an outline at 10.30 a. in. of the program of the
"United Lutheran Church in America."
It is your duty, as a Lutheran, to attend church
tomorrow morning and hear the reason for the
merger of our churches. It's important that you
know.
Rally Day
All Sunday School records are expected to lie
broken tomorrow afternoon. Because of the influ
enza epidemic, Rally Day was postponed five weeks.
This enforced rest should permit you to more regu
larly attend Sunday School. Resolve to be present
