General Hirschauer headed hia
troops. Men and women rushed for
ward and piously kissed the folds of
the Hag borne by the 3 4 4th Infantry.
The cheers grew until the troops ar

The joy of the populace was sad

of Mulhausen, was overcome by
emotion at the official reception to
the French officers and dropped
dead. He had been for many years a

After the official ceremonies, tha

telegram to the French government
declaring the strong attachment of
Mulhausen to France and the un
wavering loyalty of the population.
