Bonnlweil, the party's candidate for Governor, declined to meet with the platform committee of the Demo cratic State Committee to discuss the document to be submitted to the voters. The Record says: 'Taking the stand that no political group is au thorized to select his platform and also that the voters of the state ex pressed their decision on the Issues at the May primaries, Judge Eugene C. Bonniwell, Democratic candidate for Governor, has formally declined to attend a meeting of the Resolu tions Committee of his party to be held this afternoon at the Bellevue- Stratford Hotel. The Resolutions Committee was selected at a meeting of the State Committee held in Har risburg on June 19. The members were instructed to draw up a plat form and report back to the larger body before September 1. The com mittee includes men who openly fought Judge Bonniwell at the pri maries and are even now antagon istic to his views. The members of the committee are Parke H. Davis, of Northampton county: Charles P. Donnelly, of Philadelphia; Charles F. Uhl, Jr., of Somerset; E. B. Mc- Ginnis, of Allentown; Thomas Ross, of Bucks; Chester H. Ashton, of Ti 'oga, and Lawrence H. Rupp, of Le high, chairman." In his letter to Chairman Rupp the Judge said in part: "The Democ racy, by a decisive majority, accept ed me as the standard-bearer upon that platform. I therefore respect fully deny the qualifications of any committee to enunciate a platform when the primary election itself de clared emphatically in favor of the platform upon which I stood. I en close for your information a copy of the original primary platform and of the elaborated platform upon which I shall make this campaign. It ought to be needless to direct your attention, as a member of the bar, to the fact that your committee, neither by the act of Assembly re lating to primary elections, nor by the rules of the party, is vested with any authority whatever in this mat ter. I am always glad to meet with any body of my fellow-citizens, and particularly with my Democratic friends, upon any proper occasion: but I do not Intend to be diverted from the lines upon which this cam paign has been planned, and I re gret that you and your colleagues undertake in this fashion to embar rass a campaign that contains so much of hope and opportunity, not merely for myself, but for our many nominees for Congress and the Leg islature."
