oletown, is suffering a probable frac
ture of the skull at the Harrisburg
Hospital as the result of an accident
at Mlddletown this morning. With
fellow workmen he was hoisting a
piece of heavy timber on a crane, and
it struck against a tree. When it fell,
it landed on Bront's head, knocking
his unconscious.

Pennsylvanians, all of whom are
dead, figure In to-day's Army cas
ualty list. Of these, -one officer, one
noncommissioned officer and ten
privates were listed killed in action,
and two privates died of wounds.
The officer was Lieutenant William
B. Brown, of Moscow.

American airplanes left their hang

field at 10 o'clock this morrting for
the first leg of the 3,000-mile flight
around the central western states as
an educational campaign in the in
terests of progressive aviation.
The machines started for Cincin
nati, where they will be joined by
three British machines under Briga

Mineola, L. 1., led the American fly
ing circus. He arrived here last night
after a seven hundred mile flight

dinner table, after enjoying a
repast, Alexander Botts, 62 years
old, retired stone mason and builder,
' was taken with a violent pain and
died within two minutes.
Poet Sterling's Wife a
Suicide in California

Mrs. Carrie Sterling, divorced wife
of George Sterling, the poet died re
cently at her Piedmont bungalow
after swallowing poison according to
a dispatch from Oakland, Cal. Mrs.
Sterling has been despondent since
her divorce three years ago. She
left a note saying: "Ail the beauty
has gone out of life." George Ster
ling Is best known as the author of
two books of poeriis, "The Wine of
Wizardry" and "The Testimony of
the Buna." _
