The audi ence included people from almost every denomination in the city. They were representative people; million aires. leaders in state government, sat side by sire with men and women who haven't been at a religious meeting for months. A man sat with two Greeks, two Syrians and two Chinese about him. Perhaps no more cosmopolitan audience has faced a preacher for a long time than the one before Dr. Hawes when he set before his audience, "Jesus, the Na ture Lover." "You gave me a new idea of Jesus," said one of the best known Bible students of the city. "This new setting started my mind running in a new channel." To-mor row night it is expected that there will be many more people attend. Arrangements are being made for more seats. "I shall not be sur prised if more than a thousand peo ple come to the service," said the pastor. "We will do our best to ac commodate them. If they can't find seats there is plenty of standing room." "Also may I speak of the morn ing service in the church. The sub ject 1 have chosen is intended to help people who are carrying great soul loads in these days. It is my notion that people need a message from the church which will turn their minds to Christ, their helper. We certainly get enough of the war in the daily papers and magazines and books.
