Doom of the U-Boat
in August Predicted
Baltimore, Md., May 27. —The Al
lies absolutely have the U-boat un
der control, according to Dr. M. L.
Raney. librarian of the Johns Hop
kins University, who has just return
ed from Paris. His remarks con
cerning the U-boat situation are bas
ed upon statements made to him by
high navel authorities.
"The U-boat situation, according
to Admiral Sims, was absolutely un
der control," he said. "The construc
tion of tonnage is meeting the de
struction . Captain T. L. Wilson,
commanding officer of the flagship
upon which I visited vessels of the
American Navy in French waters,
said that by the end of August we
should have the U-boats complete
ly dammed.
Parkhurst Church
Closes Its Doors
New York, May 27.—The last serv
ice. under its present auspices, was
held in the Madison Square Presby
terian Church yesterday morning:,
and the Rev. Dr. Charles H. Park
hurst preached his last sermon as
its pastor. The congregation has
agreed upon a union with the Uni
versity Place and Old First Presby
terian Churches, the united congre
gation to worship in the First Church
edifice at Fifth Avenue and Twelfth
street: and the pastors of the three
bodies are to retire. The merger
will formally be concluded during
the summer.
