    'TWAS "CINCH,"
SAYS FLYER WHO
DOWNSTEUTONS
•Captain Peterson Watches
Enemy Machines as They
Plunge to Earth
With the American Army in
l'runce, May 17.—Captain David
Peterson, of Honesdale, Pa., and
[Captain Kenneth Marr, of California,
'the heroes in the aerial battle on
W'ednesday, in which Captain Peter
ison brought down two lierman
.monoplanes and Captain Marr de-
stroyed an enemy biplane in the
'l'oul sector, told their stories of the j
buttle yesterday.
"1 was flying near Thiaucourt at |
an altitude of 5,000 meters," said
Captain Peterson, "when 1 saw two j
German albatross scouts going away
at right angles in the distance. I !
ascended -00 meters higher, circled ,
and stopped my engine- and darted j
after them. I finally got closer to j
the last plane. At a distance of
100 yards I opened fire with incen
diary bullets and the German ma
chine almost immediately burst into
flames and fell.
"I continued straight on my
course," he went on, "and within
two minutes had the other enemy
machine before me. He started a
quick dive, but I am certain that j
some of the bullets went honw, ]
< ine of the wings of the machine
crumpled up at the same moment, j
As 1 circled about X saw one ma- j
chine burning on the ground and
the other, smoking in its downward !
plunge, crash to the earth. That is I
all there is to it. It was a cinch." j
Other Captain's Story
Captain Marr was flying at an al- j
titude of 2,000 meters when he saw ■
an enemy machine over the Ameri- |
can lines.
"As 1 sailed out I saw him far
away, circling out from our line
amid a cloud of puffballs from our
'Archies'," he said. "I circled out
wider and finally passed the Ger
man and turned again down our
line between the enemy and the sun.
Both of us had the sun at ouri
backs.
"As I opened up my motor and !
approached nearer," he said, "I saw!
that I had a two-seater to deal !
with. 1 though that the German j
might see me or hear my motor, sol
1 went a hundred meters lower, '
until right under the tail of his
machine. Then I pointed the nose i
of my airplane upward and went on i
a level with the enemy and opened j
tire t pointblank range.
"The German never knew I was 1
there until incendiary bullets, alter
nating with ordinary missiles, began
pattering through his machine.
"After twenty shots his machine
toppled."

Common garden sage brewed into

will turn gray, streaked and faded

Just a few applications will prove a I
revelation if your hair Is fading i
streaked or gray. Mixing the Sage
Tea and Sulphur recipe at home,
though, is troublesome. An easier
way is to get a bottle ot i
\X yeth's Sage and Sulphur Com
pound at any drug store all ready for
use. This is the old time recipe im
proved by the addition of other in
gredients. *
While wispy, gray, faded hair is
not sinful, we all desire to retain our
youthful appearance and attractive
ness. By darkening your hair with
Wyeth's Sage and Sulphur Com
pound, no one can tell, because it
does it so naturally, so evenly. You
just dampen a spongj or soft brush
with it and draw this through your
hair, taking one small strand at a
time; by morning all gray hairs have
disappeared, and, after another ap
plication or two, your hair becomes
beautifully dark, glossy, soft and
luxuriant.
