Relief in Coal Famine

the coal famine for this city by the
receipt of 15.000 tons a day, will be
gin early next week but increased
shipments are expected in the mean
time.
William Potter, state fuel adminis
trator, and Francis A. Lewis, chair
man of the Philadelphia Fuel Com- ,
mittee, are working out relief meas
ures which were decided upon in
Washington yesterday in their con
ference with Federal Fuel Adminis
trator Garfield.
On account of the great amount of
preparation entailed it will be impos
| sible for a few days to obtain the
shipments which Dr. Garfield has de
cided to divert to this city.
Mr. Lewis to-day is making up the
first list of dealers who are to re
ceive the first big shipments of coal.
This list is being prepared through

members of the fuel committee have
obtained from the dealers since the
committee has been in existence.
The names and addresses of the
, dealers will be sent to Dr. Garfield,
