Governor Brumbaugh's office to
day announced the selection of twen
ty-seven hospitals in sixteen cities
or towns of Pennsylvania which had
been selected as headquarters of
medical advisory boards under the
draft law together with names of
physicians who have signified wil
lingness to act on the advisory
boards.
On the list of hospitals are eight
in Philadelphia, four in Pittsburgh,
two in Wilkes-Barre and one each
in Altoona, Bethlehem, Bryn Mawr,

dogs are to be killed and between
sunset and sunrise all dogs must
either be penned up, chained or tied
or "under reasonable control of
some person." The secretary will
give notice that the act will be
rigorously enforced from January 15
as it wa spassed to protect sheep
and other domestic animals which
state authorities, and various or
ganizations are endeavoring to en
courage to increase the meat and

for all dogs and of rewards for
destruction of all dogs unlicensed is
provided.
Under tlie terms of the new law
counties will license the dogs and as
a means to secure uniformity Secre
tary Patton has suggested a barrel
shaped tag with a clover leaf form
for kennel 3. As a number of coun
ties had given their orders *for tags
before the suggestions reached them
there will be various forms next
year, but it Is hoped to have the
counties all using one type in 1919.
Trees Arc Clean. State Forestry
Commissioner Robert S. Conklin in
a statement issued at his oltice to
day declared that the state was giv
ing way surplus trees to aid re
forestation and that the state "is not
giving them away because damaged
or injected. The statement says that
some farmers feared to take the tree
trees from the state for fear of in
fection and that the department
wishes to say that "these state trees
are as clean as any in America." The
law says that the irees must Be plant
ed in Pennsylvania and must not be
sold.
Governor a Speaker.—Governor
Brumbaugh was a speaker at the big
patriotic meetings In Philadelphia
yesterday. He will be here late to
day.
Want Toll Gates Taken Down.—
York people have petitioned the
state and county authorities to unite
in removing a number of the toll
Rates in that county. Commissioner
O'Neil will make some inspections
when the weather becomes decent.
To Meet Hero. —The state commis
sions recently named by the gover
nor will have their meetings here for
organization purposes.
State to Inspect.—State Inspectors
will go to Hog Island to make in
spections of the proposed sewage
systems. The work is to be rushed
through the winter.
Up to Supreme Court. —The How
garth compensation case, in which
anthrax forms the interesting rasis
for argument, has been appealed to
the supreme court.
Smallpox Co State. Smallpox
cases are reported from Johnstown
and Bradford. There are suspicious
cases in several other towns.
Murdock in Philadelphia.—Major
W. G. Murdock, state draft ofllcer, is
in Philadelphia to-day. He is work
ing on dates for the drafted men to
move.
Company to Answer. —The Middle
town and Swatara Water Company
has been asked to make an answer
to the complaint of the borough of
Middletown against its lire .-iervice,
tiled yesterday before the Public
Service Commission.
Hearing Tomorrow.—The State In
dustrial Board will give a hearing at
Philadelphia to-morrow on elevator
locking devices.
FIRE DAMAGES DWELLING
Franklintown, Pa., Dec. 18.—Soot
in the chimney taking fire yesterday
afternoon at the home of Henry
Wonder, two miles from here, while
the house was temporarily in charge
of Mrs. Celis Hess, and a young son,
almost resulted in the house being
destroyed. The flames quickly com
municated to the hantle and wains
coting in the kitchen, doing about
$125 worth of damage. Several
kerosene lamps on the mandle ex
ploded and sent the flaming koil over
the kitchen floor. Neighbors extin
guished the blaze. The loss is cov
ered by insurance.
MRS. t'I.RICH KELLER DIES
Columbia, Pa„ Dec. 18.—Mrs. Bar
bara Catharine Keller, wife of Ul
ricli Keller, died at the homo of her
daughter, Mrs. E. E. Keller, Sr., aged
83 years.
