more apparent that the outcome of the war may depend
ULely on this question of food supply.
--A ruling by*the American government was made
Wednesday setting aside export rules to give Italy help,
regardless of prospective shortage in the United States.
Italy will be given as much food as she needs and it is
imperative that at this time particularly she be amply
supplied.
—We are not asked to eat less than is good for us—
but merely to economize in our use of food to decrease
our consumption of certain foods of which there is a
world scarcity,.
Patriotic W omen Can 'Begin to
Save Wheat This Way:
—Make bread wholly or in part of rye, oatmeal, corn
meal, rice.
—Use oatmeal, hominy, rice, cream of rye or cornmcal
mush in place of wheat cereals.
—Use less pastry and cake.
—Use all stale bread in cooking of some kind; as rusk,
♦ crumbs on made dishes, or in puddings.
—Cut the loaf on the table and only as required.
