of this fabric. In fact, paper weav-
I ing has made such strides that twills
are now produced, and the time is
not far distant when it will be p^ssi

t ble to obtain excellent grades of
• worsted made of paper, and already
i the first patterns of such fabrics are
• being exhibited.
Ready-made clothing In paper is
s at present confined for the most part
to special workmen's clothing. En
i tire suits of this are exhibited, as
i well as aprons, overalls, ana office
coats. The price of paper fabrics

varies between 25 cents and one dol
lar a yard. Ready-made workmen's
aprons and overalls are sold at six
dollars a dozen. For entire suits the
price is about $5.
The paper clothing is not, how
ever, entirely confined to workmen's
clothing. A beginning has been made
In supplying garments for women
and chlldfen. For children there is
a wide variety of paper garments
available. For women, the offerings
are thus far confined to undercloth
ing.
KING CONTRIBUTES.
Munich. —The King of Bavaria's
contribution to the "Gold 'Purchasing
Headquarters" of his empire, which
is buying up old family heirlooms,
i jewels of all kinds and precious met
al and stones, is a cluster of 899
pearls which have a total value of a
little over *IOO,OOO. The King al
ready has turned ln diamonds, rubies
and other stones worth $25,000.
HELPING GERMANY

NOVEMBER 1, 1917. '
officials were accused of conspiring
to furnish millons of dollars' worth
of wool to Germany, ln the course of
an action In the Prize Court here this
week. The case concerned a ship
ment of 1,500 bales of wool, con
signed to the Swedish army, but des
tined, according to the Attorney Gen
eral, for a German firm in I/eipzig.
The shipment is valued at $700,000,

being only one of several seized en- ]
route from the Argentine Republic.
