Printers All Set For
Their Annual Picnic
"Everything is set" for the T.vpo
! graphical Union of Harrisburg to
j hold its annual chicken corn soup
| to-morrow afternoon on the banks
of the Conodoguinet creek in the
vicinity of Pyne's Corner. If the
weather men is lenient and allows
the sun to shine at 4 p. m., more
than a hundred of the typographers
will gather to taste some of Lerue
Metzger's cooking.
"And believe me," says J. Elmer
("Buck") Ewing. of the Telegraph,
chairman of the committee in
charge, "Lerue is some cook." If any
of the typographers want to enjoy
themselves to their hearts' content,
all they have to do is to take the
1.45 or 3.45 Enola car from Market
Square, get off at Pyne's Corner
and there they will be met by con
veyances to take them to the scene
of the feast.

ballot for electing a city school di
rector to fill the unexpired term of
the Rev. William N. Yates, resigned.
I upon the advice of County Solicitor
1 Philip S. Moyer.
| When the school- officials were
! asked to certify places to be filled the
| ccmmissloners were notified that
j three directors for six-year terms
\ were to be elected, and that a va
| cancy existed because of resignation.
Later the Dauphin county court re
ceived a petition asking for the ap
pointment of a director to fill this
term, which ends in 1919. No action
has been taken on this petition.
The commissioners explained that
according to the school code vacancies
in the school board can only be filled
by the remaining members within
thirty days after they occur or by
appointment by the court. No pro
vision is made for the election of
a director by the voters except for
the full six-year term.
