McCrory ceebrated lier ninetieth
birthday on Tuesday. She was the
recipient of many remembrances and

who <s aged 5L', and Mrs. Crory are
neighbors, and have lived on the same
street nearly all their lives.—The
Cireoncastle Nature Club has had a
most interesting exhibit of butter
flies, birds' nests, birds' eggs, mounted
bird*. etc., tills week in the Winger
building in South Carlisle street. The |
exhibit was free and was for the pur- |

married fifty-seven years. They are nraonn: the oldest residents of the
town. They are members of the Unl ted Evangelical Church and when
younger took an active part in the affairs of the congregation. Mr. Sloth

burg Will Parade in Honor
of Draft Men
Gettysburg. Pa., Sept. 1. —A dozen
01 more soldiers had a lot ol fun on
the battlefield during the darkness of
night when they released a heavy car
loaded with ties and other material
from the trolley line, which track is
being torn up and removed from the
government land, and let it drift
down the line from the curve at the
Loop to the. place where the old
Plum Run bridge was and the car
plunged foremost into the stream,
scattering the load in all directions.
—Abbottstown is without a principal
for its schools. Professor O. Vernon
Wink, of Hustontown, Fulton county,
who had been elected to the place,
having notified the board that he had
been accepted in the draft.—The
patriotic orders of the town, assisted
by all the lodges of the county and
any citizens who will join them, will
hold a parade ana demonstration
this evening in honor of the young
men of the county who have been
selected in the draft and will go into
camp in Maryland. Thomas H.
Nixon has returned to the United
States Military Academy at West
Point after spending a furlough of
two months at his home here. Dur
irtg this time he rendered valuable
assistance at the army camp in drill
ing the recruits and in giving instruc
tion in bayonet work to the noncom

service. He has been assigned to the
quartermaster's corps and sent to

Monday evening the Millersburg Red
Cross Auxiliary gave an open air con
cert and entertainment on the lawn
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B.
Nimmons, in East Union street. The
Citizens band furnished music. In
strumental and vocal solos, duets
and quartets held the large audience
for more than an hour. The pro
ceeds amounted to over SIOO. ln
the freshet caused by the recent
heavy rains, live of the electric light
company's coal flats were washed
down Wiconisco creek, but were re
covered. The. company has a night
and day force at work now, getting
out thousands of tons of creek coal
and storing it for future use. Two
cows, the property of Levi Ulsh were
struck by a fast Pennsylvania rail
road train early in the week at the
D. W. Lenker farm, three miles
south of Millersburg. One of them
was killed outright, but it is said the
other one will recover.—The Rev.

turned front their vacation and serv
ices will be resumed in the Metho
dist Episcopal Church to-morrow.
