Results of tlie work of the Perry
county draft, board, officially an
nounced to-day, make certain that
more men will necessarily have to V>e
called to fill Perry's quota of 130
men in the new conscript army. Ln
oflicial reports in circulation during
the past several days \aiied
widely in their accuracy.
Two hundred and seventy-six men
were called for examination and of
this list only 130, six more than the
county quota, passed the physical
examination. But 65 per cent, ot
those who filled the physical require
ments tiled claims for exemption.
Only 48 of those who passed are will
ing to enter the army.
One hundred and nineteen men
failed to measure up to the stand
ards and were rejected. Thirteen
more of the 256 men called enlisted
in the army, some of them before
the drawings were made and some
since. Two ministers called for ex
amination were not even examined
because of the exemption provided
for the clergy. One man died since
he registered on June 5, another Is
in a hospital, one received permis
sion to be examined at some other
place than here, one is "serving time
as a law breker and two men called
failed to appear.

Bending: Company to-day offered a
leward of SI,OOO for the recovery ot
the package of bills thrown into the
Susquehanna river on the night ol
July :il by Amos E. Shoemaker, an
employe at the company, who is now j
in the county jail. The package con
tained banknotes to the value of $6,100
ami was securely tied into a package ,
with a covering of burlap.

this theater Monday, Tuesday and

ville company assisting in the search,
the offer is open not only to the half
dozen diving girls who will reach this
city Sunday, but to all who cure to
take part in the hunt.

Pass in Third District
The third county division draft
exemption board was the only one
to examine men to-day, twenty-six
were called during the morning,
eighteen passing the physical tests.
Only three of this number did not
file exemption claims.
The board stopped examining at
noon and will not start again until
Monday' morning when sixty men
hnc been notilied to appear. The
second division board also will start
next Monday. Two hundred and
fifty men have been notified to re
port during next week, by this board.
The first division board concluded
its examination of five hundred and
ten men yesterday. (If the 117 ex
amined during the day, 67 passed
physically and 4(i filed exemption
claims. Twenty-two did not report.
Four hundred men will be examin
ed beginning next Tuesday.
All the hoards began checking up
their lists to-day to see how many
men they had obtained for their
quota. Decisions on exemptions prob
ably will not be announced until
next Monday.

New Brunswick, N. J., Aug. 24. A
friend rushed up to William Sliced,
colored, in 1 ror.t of his home here, and
tolil him he had been called for the
national army. Snecd fell dead from
heart failure, due to flight, according
to the doctors. An investigation
showed that Sneed's friend was mis
taken or joking, as the dead man's
number had not been posted.
