The following ordinance was passed
by the City Council and signed by the
Acting Mayor on the 26th day of June,
1917 and is published as required by
Article VI, Section 8, of the Act of
Assembly approved June 27th, 1913;
AN ORDINANCE
To amend clause 10 of section 1, of
City Council Ordinance No. 50, Ses
sion of 1914-1915 entitled, "An Ordi
nance to authorize and regulate the
assessment, levy and collection of
a license tax on trades, occupations
and various kinds of business within
the City of Harrisburg, and provid
ing penalties for the violation
thereof."
Section 1. Be it ordained by the
Council of the City of Harrisburg, and
it is hereby ordained by authority of
the same. That clause 10, of section 1,
of City Council Ordinance No. 50, Ses
sion of 1914-1915, entitled "An Ordi
nance to authorize and regulate the
assessment, levy and colleptlon of a
license tax on trades, occupations and
various kinds of business within the
City of Harrisburg, and providing
penalties for the violation thereof,
which clause reads as follows;
"Clause 10. All brokers, • pawn
brokers, market house companies, ex
press companies or agencies, tele
graph, telephone, steamheating, gas,
water, electric light or power com
panies or agencies, shall each pay an
annual license tax of one hundred
dollars;' be and the same irf" hereby j*\
amended to read as follows:
Clause 10. All pawnbrokers, market
house companies, express companies or
agencies, telegraph, telephone, steam
heating, gas, water, electric light or
power companies or agencies, shall
each pay an annual license tax of one
hundred dollars. All brokers, bond
dealers and bond agents, having
private wires, shall each pay an an
nual license tax of one hundred dol
lars. All brokers, bond dealers and
bond agents, not having private wires,
shall each pay an annual license tax
of twenty-five dollars.
