dor to Mexico, Visits His
Father
Greencastle, Pa., July 21.—A
crowd of eighteen young people from
Greencastle visited Coffey's Cave,
near Williamson, on Friday evening.
They were well supplied with bicycle
lights, candles and torchlights, and
explored the cave for a mile. In
some parts of the cave are spacious
rooms, and they found one place
where they could not stand erect.
The formation of rock is beautilul
and in many odd shapes and de
signs.—Miss Helen G. Vail, of Da

George A. Royer. for several years
teller of the First National Bank,
left Thursday for Columbus. Ohio,
to enlist in the new Tenth Regiment
of the Reserve Engineers' Forestry
Department, which Prof. Illick, head
of the Mont Alto Academy, is re
cruiting for service in France.
Henry Prather Fletcher, ambassador
to Mexico, spent Sunday with his
father, L. H. Fletcher. South Carlisle
street. The ambassador attended
services in the Presbyterian Church
and heard for the first time the ma?-
nmcent pipeorgan which he and his
brothers presented to the church on
June 24. in honor of their father.
Louis Henry Fletcher and in mem
ory of their mother. Martha Ellen
Rowe Fletcher. Notwithstanding
his official cares the ambassador is
looking in the best of health and
greets his friends with all the old
time cordiality. The annual Kuhn
family reunion will be held in
Rhodes' Grove on Saturday, July 28.

Smith, celebrated her eighty-seventh

Sunday for Bellefonte, where he will
go in training with the Medical Corps

Mr. Warner recently volunteered his
services, and was last week ordered
to report at the Bellefonte camp.

R. Snyder has been commissioned as
a first lieutenant in the Medical Corps. J
He is a son of Dr. and Mrs. E. Walt
Snyder and has been practicing with
his father since June. 1915. His wife
and one child are at home. Dr. Sny
der is an alumnus of the Marysville
High school, having been graduated
with the class of ISIS. He graduated
from Harrisburg Central High school
in 10S and later attended Dickinson
College. Carlisle, and graduated from
Je!Y<. i son Medical College. Philadel
phia. in 1914. and served during the
following year as an interne in the
Harrisburg Hospital.

number of young people attended a
party and dance at the Guardhouse

has sold one of his properties in

$5,500. He paid $1,600 for it. and
has owned it for about twenty years.

Gettysburg, Pa„ July 21. —The
trolley line which ran through the
town and ovor a portion of the bat
tlefield is no more, the track hav
ing been taken up. For years the
government has been trying to get
the tracks off the battlefield, but
were never successful in having fe
appropriation for the purchase of
the right of way from the trolley
company passed, but this year the
amount necessary to do so was add
ed to one of the Congressional bills
as a rider and went through.—
Eighty-five housewives of Gettys
burg and vicinity attended the can
ning demonstration in the High
School under the direction of the
Farm Bureau. The demonstration
was given by Miss Clouser, of State
College.—A bandstand has been
erected in the public square and it
is proposed to give three band con
certs each week. The regimental
bands from camp, with the town
band, will take turns in furnishing
the music.—lt is planned to have the
dedications of the bronze statues to
General Doubleday and General
Wadsworth. which are being erect
ed by rtie State of New York, dedi
cated the last week of September.—
An odd method of thieving develop
ed in New Oxford when some one
visited the garden of George Grove
during the night and stole the po
tatoes from two rows.—EmmaNeely,

ground when she Jumped from a
buggy in which she was riding with
her father when the colt they were
driving broke the bit and became
unmanageable. She struck on her

Columbia, Pa., July 21.—Columbia
has had the biggest real estate boom
the town has experienced and this
condition is due in part to the active
and energetic efforts of Adam H.
Greer, who is the youngest man to
engage in that line of work in the
town. Mr. Greer is known as the
local booster in real estate circles
and he has done much to promote
the real estate interests of the bor
ough.
