COACH R. J. GUYER
Annville, Pa., May 10. R. J.
Guyer has tendered his resignation
as athletic coach at Lcoanon Valley
College and the board after due con
sideration have accepted. He has
had several offers for positions with
bigger schools but up to the present
time has not signed any contract for
next season. Coach Guyer came to
Lebanon Valley four years ago and
practically has put athletics at that
school on the plane that they are
at present.
He is an alumnus of the college
and afterwards took a course at the
V. M. C. A. Training School at
Springfield, Mass. President Goss
ard has had several applicants to
succeed Guyer, among whom is
Eugene Miller, the former State
College star. Although 110 definite
action has been taken Miller seems
to be the most promising candidate.
The authorities are seriously con
sidering cancelling the remainder of
the baseball schedule for this year
due to the loss of many of the
squad who have enlisAd.
Big Bill Lange Ready to
Fill Baseball Vacancy
New York, May 10. "Big Bill"
Lange, old-time Cub player, is
ready to play ball to fill a vacancy for
a man called to the front—or he is
ready to take his place in the trench
es, he declared to-day in a letter to
John K. Tener, president of the Na
tional League. •
"When the army drafts all your
players," he wrote, "the chances are
you will have to get some players
that are 45 and over, so if you do, 1
will volunteer my services, as I will
be 46 on June 6."
Four Yale Captains Now

attached. Johnny Overton, captain
of the track team, and Harry Le
Gore, captain of the baseball team,

lieutenants of marines. They left
Jk New Haven yesterday.
• It is estimated that there are not
enough "Y" men left in the univer
