War Marries Widow of
Southern Soldier
Waynesboro, Pa„ April 4.
was much of the romantic in the mar
riage yesterday evening of a Civil War
veteran. W. Otto poombs, and Mrs.
Mary E. Pryor, widow of a Civil War
veteran. They went to tne Mason-
Dixon line, near Ringgold, Md., and,
standing on the Maryland side of the
■line, under the great oaks near the
Mennonite Church on the State Road,
.they were married by the Rev. Dr.
:Gorg F. Boggs. pastor of the Metho
dist Church of Waynesboro, at 7.30
o'clock, the illumination being fur
nished by the headlights of automo
biles.
Tho trip to the romantic wedding

five came from* Smithsburg, Md. The
ceremony was witnessed by Mr. and
Mrs. John Seighman, Mr. and Mrs. G.
K. Ridenour and Mrs. John Brown.
Smithsburg. and'.H. G. Potts, of
Waynesboro. After the ceremony the
witnesses came to Waynesboro with
the bridal party. Mr. Seighman pre
sented the brJdo with a large bridal
cake.
This is Mr. Coombs' third matrimon
ial Venture and Mrs. Coombs' second.
The marriage followed a courtship of
three months. The bride, who Is 54
years old, is the widow of George W.
Pryor, who was a member of Company,
K, First Maryland Cavalry, Potomac
Home brigade. She lived at Smiths
burg the greater part of her life, com
ing to Waynesboro recently.
Mr. CoomSs, who is ?5 years of age,
is a veteran of the Civil War, having
served in Battery B. First Pennsylva
nia Light Artillery. lie enlisted at
York. For a number of years he lived
at Baltimore, coming to Waynesboro
in 1910. He is a past post commander
of Captfin John K. Walker Post, No.
287, G. A. R., and for three years has
been its adjutant.
S2 WHEAT AX ACTUALITY
Chicago, April 4.—Two dollar wheat
became an actuality to-day. The cereal
for delivery next month sold at that
price at the opening of the Board of
Trade to-day. It is the Highest ijrice

Twenty-Five Recruits Added
to Machine Gun Company
Lemoyne, Pa., April 4. Since the
Machine Gun Company of the Eighth
Regiment, with temporary quarters In
the Lemoyne firehouse returned from
the Mexican border. Captain Ralph C.
Crow has enlisted about twenty-live
recruits.
C'aptcln Trow has been busy at his
office in Hummel avenue for several
weeks recruiting new men and has
made a tine record for his company.
Most of the men enlisted are from the
West Shore. New Cumberland and
Mechanicsburg are the best represent
ed, but Lemoyno is far back of the av
erage. Camp Hill and Eberly Mills
are represented among the new men.
Drills for tho recruits will be held
to-morrow night, and tho regular drill
will be held Monday.
WILL ABANDON BRIDGE
Carlisle, Pa„ April 4. The Mount
Holly borough council lias voted to
dismantle the bridge at Mountain
Creek, Just at Mount Holly Park and
having a fording constructed. This is
on the highway route leading from
Harrisburg to Gettysburg. The body
will also petition the court to have the
borough divided, about half to be
made a part of the township of South
Middleton.

No Regular Army Officer
to Drill Cadet Battalion
Carlisle, Pa., April 4. Supporters
of drill work at Dickinson College have
been informed that it will bo impossi
ble at this time to secure a regular
army officer to drill the cadet battalion
which it has been decided to form, as
ail of these men are needed for the
moblization of the regular army. It
Is suggested that a National Guard
officer, one who has been retired from
the service or is on the reserve list, be
placed in charge for the present.
