Notes by the Adjutant General of Pennsylvania
All the present organizations of the Pennsylvania National
Guard will be subject to call, exclusive of any that may be in Fed
eral service at the time of the call.
Weather conditions and the season of the year make it im
| practicable to mobilize at Permanant Camp Ground, Mount Gretira,
land in such event mobilization points will be designed for organ
izations when call is made. Recruiting will be made the subject
of a General Order when call is made, but until the present system,
as announced in General Orders No. 1, A. G. 0., series 1912, is sus
pended or changed, it will be adhered to, but no man is to be enlisted
who does not conform in all respects to the physical standard re
quired for U. S. Army, as published in General Orders No. 66, War
Department, dated April 18, 1910. No man will be enlisted who
is less than eighteen or more than forty-five years of age. Men who
have dependent families will not be enlisted.
All officers and enlisted men of the Pennsylvania National Guard
have qualified and taken the oath as prescribed in Paragraph 70,
Act of Congress approved June 3, 1916 (National Defense Act),
and therefore do not have the status of Organized Militia.
Members of Administrative Staff will be included in the call
for purposes indicated.
The only officer required to report by telegraph direct to Com
manding General, Eastern Department, will be the Commanding
General of Seventh Division (Pennsylvania).
The senior officer of each Staff Corps and Department of the
Administrative Staff in the event of a call will immediately report
to The Adjutant General for instructions as to report to be njadc
by him to Eastern Department.
Officers of the National Guard Reserve will report by telegraph
to Commanding General, Eastern Department, Governor's Island,
N. Y., giving name, grade, arm of service, corps or department and
telegraph address. They will make similar report to The Adjutant
General of the State
Forms of Bills of Lading for shipment of arms, equipment, etrt
will be furnished by The Adjutant General to all officers require*!
to make shipment of stores, and no shipments will be made un-*
authority is given by The Adjutant General, and then only on
proper Bill of Lading and In accordance with instructions to be
given at the time of call. Officers should keep property, as far as
possible, in condition for prompt shipment by having stores not in
immediate use properly packed or assembled and weight ascer
tained and marked thereon.
Personal baggage must not be included in a Bill of Lading, but
may be shipped in same car under the allotment of 150 pounds per
man to be transported free.
