became very dull on the rally until
selling of the motors provoked further
heaviness. Studebaker broke 4 %
points with 2 to 5 points for Willys-
Overland, Chandler, General Motors!
and Saxony. Halls were lethargic and !
irregular. Bonds were firm.

Thomas P. Merritt, One of
Reaing's Leading Men, Dies
Reading, Pa.. Dec. 29. Tliomaa Polk
Merritt, 72 years of age, lumber dealer
and one of Reading's leading citizens,
died here to-day from pneumonia fol
lowing an attack of apoplexy. He serv
ed one term as mayor; war formerly
president of the Board of Trade, and
was in his time one of the best known
Democrats in the State.
