PROFIT TAKING
EXTENDS GAINS
Utilities Strong; Recessions
Wipe Out Rise in Rails;
Munitions in Demand
New York, Dec. 4.—Gains of the
first half hour were generally extended
by profit taking exercising its usual
effect. Philadelphia Company, West
ern Union and North American were
: added to the list of strong utilities,
with higher levels for zinc shares, Utah
Copper and Petroleums.
Recessions occurred on compara
tively small offerings, wiping out a
considerable part of the rise in rails,
with heaviness in Baldwin Locomo
tive, Gulf States Steel, Cuba Cane
Sugar, Pittsburgh Coal and Inter
national Paper. A demand for mu
nitions and equipments effected a par
tial readjustment of prices before
noon.
Bonds were irregular.
