REACTION AFTER MEDIATION FAILS Reading Yields All Its Rise; More Moderate Reversals Else where After Conference By Associated Press New Y'ork, Aug. 12.—T0-day's mar ket was Influenced largely by events attending the railway labor con ferences. Ralls were Irregular, with strength in Reading and heaviness in Western issues. Announcement toward the end of the session of the virtual failure of mediation proceedings was followed by reaction, Reading yielding all its rise with more moderate re versals elsewhere. Coppers which were the actual lead ers, at gains of one to almost three points, lost little of their advance. Ship ping issues were heavy in connection with the proposed capital readjustment of the Mercantile Marine Company. The closing was irregular. Bonds were steady.
