Church Societies Will
Co-operate in Festival
A picto-optican ice cream festical
will be held in St. Andrew's Reformed
Church, Penbrook, Thursday evening,
August 10. Ico cream, homemade
i candy and cake will be on sale and

open air for all who attend the festival,

' IMPROVEMENTS AT STOCKYARD
Marysville, Pa., Aug. 7.—Because of
the lack of space, the Pennsylvania
Railroad has been greatly handicapped <
In handling livestock in the local
preference freight yards. Work has
! already commenced on the big im
! provements. It Is planned to enlarge
| these feeding and watering stations so
| that eleven carloads of stock may be
handled at the same time.
XEW PASTOR ORDAINED
Landisburg, Pa., Aug. 7.—Licentiate
A Nevia Bruba'.ier was ordained and
installed as pastor of St. Peter's Re
formed Church at Landisburg yester
day morning. The Rev. John W.
Keener, pastor of the Blain Reformed
Church, delivered the charge to the
congregation and the Rev. U O. H.
Kerschener, of Newport, the charge to
the pastor. Th-5 Rev. Samuel T. Wag
ner, of Allnda, had charge of the in
stallation and ordination.

worn-out veteran preachers and those
who are dependent upon them," de
clares Governor Brumbaugh in a let
ter to Rev. C. W. Karns, secretary of
the Annuity Fund of the Methodist
Episcopal Church, Carlisle, Pa. Gov
ernor Brumbaugh continues "surely no
more self-sacrificing, underpaid ser
vants of the Master work for him in
this world. They deserve comfort and
care and the secure support of the
Church and community. I hope you
may be wholly and speedily success
ful in the worthy, holy task of secur
ing this fund.
The Lord bless you, bless those that
give, and those that need the fund."
Secretary Karns. speaking of this
campaign, under the auspices of the
Central Pennsylvania Annual Confer
ence for pensions for preachers, said:
"The Central Pennsylvania Annual
Conference at its 1911 session decided
to begin an aggressive campaign in
the interest of the Annuity Fund.
The present secretary was at that time
appointed to this task. •
"The Methodist Church has 2750 re
tired ministers, and more than 3050
widows and 500 orphans. We pay the
ministers and widows approximately
$125 annually. We need $10,000,000
imested at 5 per cent, to give these
veterans even a meager support."

Saturday evening at 5 o'clock in Silver
i Spring Presbyterian Church, about 2
i miles north of Mechanicsburg, when
; Miss Margaret Ferguson, daughter of
| the Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Thorn -1 J.
| Ferguson, became the bride
| Walter Densmore, of Rochester. X.
jY. The ceremony was performed by
the bride's uncle, the Rev. Dr. Robert
|G. Ferguson, president emeritus of
Westminster College, who . ificiated at
I the marriage of the father and mother
of the bride.
Miss Ferguson was given In mar
riage by her father and wore a wed
ding gown of white taffeta, and
georgette, with full train. Miss Mary
McCormick Ferguson, a sister, was
the maid of honor.
Four bridesmaids were Miss Vir
ginia Ferguson, Miss Mary Beaver
Thompson, of Milroy; Miss Clara Greer
of Pittsburgh and Miss Mary Mumma
of Mechanicsburg. Mr. Denmore was
attended by his brother, A. Dudley
Densmore, who acted as best man, and
the ushers were the Rev. David Fergu
son Dunn, of Huntingdon; Willard T.

CHI'RCH TENNIS TOURNAMENT

being made by tennis enthusiasts to
hold a tournament between teams
