are only ten rooms available in the

Columbln, Pa., July 29. Miss Betty
Resh, daughter of George A. Resh, has
been crowned queen of the firemen's
carnival, having led her nearest com
petitor in a popular contest by near
ly live hundred votes. The contest last
ed for one week and Miss Resh received
upwards of 2,000 votes. The winner is
one of the best known among the young
social set and is popular. She received
a diamond ring in recognition of her
popularity and the remarkable show
ing in the contest.

INTO HERSHEY IN SINGLE DAY
Unprecedented Activity in Busy Chocolate Town During July;
Ninety-nine Loaded Cars on Railroad Sidings
Hershcy, Pa., July 29.—For the first
three weeks of July the outward
freight shipments from Hershey total
ed more than for any whoile month of
July In the past. The entire summer
in the chocolate town has been a swirl
of activity, with the factory running
day and night in an effort to catch up
with the business. As much as 100,-
000 quarts of milk has been received
in a single aay. One mbrning this
week 99 cars loaded with supplies and
machinery were standing on the sid
ings here.—Next Tuesday the farmers
of Augusta county, Virginia, will ar
rive in Hershay in one of the largest
automobile excursions of the year.
From 70 to 100 machines are expect
ed with two to three hundred persons.
Last Sunday was a record-breaking
day for the big swimming pool in Her
shey park.—During the week two
Egyptian geese, three Australian geese
and two buff Orpington ducks were
added to the collection of water fowl
at High Point.—P. W. Push returned
from a 750-mile automobile trip to
