TRIES TO STEAL WATCH
Edward Smith, colored, who says he
is a hotel waiter arjd belongs in New
York City, is in jfcl! awaiting trial on
a charge of attempted larceny. Smith,
according to the police tried to steal
a watch at the store of P. G. Diener,
408 Market street. When caught.
Smith tossed the watch on the coun
ter and made his escape. He was cap
tured later. Clerks from four other
stores allege that Smith tr'ed to pull
off the same trick with them.
