UNABLE TO FIND SCHOOL FIREBUGS [Continued From First Page.] intended to start the building on its way to destruction. In both Vernon and Forney buildings, the most dangerous places in the buildings were picked to start the flre. In the Vernon school the fire was started immediately beneath a space which A'ould give a good draught to the flames. In the Forney school the fire, after burning through a thin partition, was fed by a draught through the foul air chamber. How ever, the absence of sufficient burning material near the spot, is what pre vented a serious conflagration there. Mr. Rhein and the police are get ting away from the theory that the firebugs were boys. They believe ex parts selected the spots for the For ney and Vernon fires. Make Room For Students j Children in the Forney and Shlm- I mell buildings were in their accus | tomed places this morning as usual j and a week from Monday it is ex j pected that the Vernon children will be housed in the Shimmell school. There are three vacant rooms in the Shimmell building and in addition to •liese, the gymnasium. domestic science and manual training rooms will be used, with partitions in the latter two, so that eight rooms can be given over to the Vernon students. This plan was decided upon at a meet ing of the School Board yesterday. Rumors of notes having been found in the various schools were to-day branded as untrue. The later story to gain circulation was to the effect, that this morning a notice was posted in Union Square, saying that four more buildings would be burned. This note could not be found. Persons living in the vicinity of the V ernon school are said to have seen two en on the school property late Wednesday night, standing near the door of which the plate glass was found broken by the firemen. It Is also stated Iwat two men were seen leaving the Shimmell building in an automobile shortly before the flre was discovered there. These stories are without reliable foundation.
