FEATURES MARKET
Heavy Transactions in Anglo-
French Securities Are. Re
corded at Opening
By Associated Press
New York, Dec. 16. The feature of
to-day's early trading which was other
wise marked by considerable firmness,
was the sale of severa] lots of Anglo-
French bonds without restriction at
94 a 4, lfe under the price at which they
were taken by the syndicate, and the
minimum quotation recorded by this se
curity. Special stocks, like Mercantile
Marine, Pfd., Studebaker and Texas
Company, added substantially to yes
terday s material advances, while New
lork Central again led the rails. United
states Steel was barely steady at the
outset, but denoted accumulation later.
In other divisions of the list no im
portant changes were recorded
Sentiment was finally affected by the
heavy offerings at steady declines of
the Anglo-French bonds, which fell
to 94 regular way and 34' i for fu
ture delivery. By midday sales of this
Issue approximated $2,000,000. Failure
of the New York Central to increase
Its quarterly dividend was another
source of disappointment. The reaction
wiped out all gains and various lead
ers, including Steel, Vteadlng, New York
Central, Atchison and Coppers were
variable under yesterday's close. On
the decline the market drifted into
dullness. Bonds were lower.
HEAVY SALES OK
ANGLO-FRENCH LOAN
By Associated Press
New York, Dec. 15. With the disso
lution over night of the banking syndi
cate which floated the $500,000,000
Anglo-French 5 per cent, loan, interest
centered largely around the dealings in
that security at to-day's stock market
opening.
Before midday regular sales were
made at and for future delivery at
94 %. Transactions in these bonds in
the first hour approximated $1,000,000,
with further heavy sales toward noon.

The Turkish War Office declares
the advantage is still with the Sul

approach losely the main British
positions at Kut-El-Aniara, and cut
down the activity of fhe British ar
