WELL-KNOWN MINISTER DEAD Chambersburg, July 13.—The Rev. Dr. Oliver C. Roth, aged 57, pastor of the First Lutheran Church, this city, who died suddenly Saturday evening, was one of the most widely-known ministers of this region. His wife died two years ago following injuries re ceived in a street car accident. He was stricken while in his garden and five physicians failed to restore him to consciousness. The Rev. Dr. Roth was born near Allentown. His early life was spent on the farm. Express ing a desire to enter the ministry, he matriculated in Pennsylvania College, Gettysburg. After graduating from that institution he took a full course of three years in the Theological Sem inary in Gettysburg. THAW A HYPNOTIST? New York. July 13. Why he thought Harry K. Thaw's family history, his boyhood, his alleged illusion, his will, his gen eral appearance and his belief that William T. Jerome and Dr. Flint were In a conspiracy to keep him in Mattea wan, all were factors, the witness said, which influenced his opinion. While under cross-examination, Dr. Flint suddenly asserted: 'Thaw has stared at me for fifteen minutes and I think he did it for the purpose of hpynotlsing me."
