close of yesterday's stock market ses
sion opened to-day with one lot of 7,-
500 shares at 40'j to 40. Immediately
followed by two lots aggregating 2,700
shares at Total sales in the first
fifteen minutes exceeded SO,OOO shares,
the high quotation being 40Ij. Tho
preferred stock declined a small frac
tion. Other active stocks, as well us
many specialities, improved over yes
terday's close, thero belrtg substantial
gains in leading railways and Amalga
mated Copper. Sugar shares were
again strong. Pressed Steel car lost
four points.

State Censor Law
Delegates to the Motion Picture Ex
hibitors' league of Pennsylvania chose
Reading as the place for the next con
vention to be .held June 7. 8, 9. The
city was selected by acclamation.
Reading was selected by a 17 to 9 vote
over Pittsburgh I'orState headquarters.
It was chosen because the president,
Ben Zerr, resides there.
The exhibitors met at the Plaza.
Hotel lust night and closed the con
vention with a banquet. At the next
meeting in Reading final plans will be
made for an application to the Motion
Picture Exhibitors' League of Amer
ica, for recognition.
The committee on resolutions com
posed of Fred J. Herrington, Mt. Oli
ver,. P. Magaro, llarrisburg, and <l. W.
Sahner, Pittsburgh, submitted resolu
tions late yesterday in which it was
I stated that the league go on record as
opposed to legal censorship and po
litical interference with the rights and
liberty of the screen: that an appeal
be made to the press of the State for
aid in repealing of the law; that the
thousands of "movie" patrons be ask
ed to oppose' the Censorship law.
These resolutions passed at once along
with one opposing the proposed new
building code which they feel will de
prive thousands of persons in the Statu
of their livelihood. 1. Silverman, of
the Photoplay Theater, was elected
