Several Specialties and Obscure
Stocks Rose Smartly During
Morning
By Associated Press
New York, Jan. 26. Changes at
the opening of to-day's slock market
suggested no definite trend. gains and
losseH being somewhat conflicting. For
instance. United States Steel. Common,
whose directors act on the dividend
to-day, showed no change, while the
preferred stock was fractionally lower.
Several specialties and obscure stocks
rose smartly, including American Sugar
and Beet Sugar, which gained I'£• and
114 points. By the end of the half hour
the entire list was higher despite the
heaviness in our stocks in London.
