Asks Public For Ideas Concerning
Administrative Features; Gets
Good Roads Advice
Governor Brumbaugh said to-day
that lie had received numerous letters
giving their ideas about how to deal
with the highway problem In Penn
sylvania and that he would be glad to
get the thoughts of the people in re
gard to the administrative feature of
the proposed workmen's compensation
act. The Governor said that a bill had
been drawn, based upon the investi
gations of the State Industrial Acci
dents Commission, and that it was be
ing studied with a view to making it
meet the conditions.
The Governor complimented the
commission for "conscientious and
capable work" and said that its ideas
were of much use. The question on
which he said he desired light was
whether there should be a state com
mission to handle claims or whether
the adjudication should be left to the
courts. A compensation bill, he de
clared, was a complicated affair be
cause of the fact that, Pennsylvania
has more diversified industry than anv
other state in the Union. Much to be
determined was administrative detail,
in consideration of which the experi
ence of other states would be taken
Into account.
To-morrow the Governor expects to
see several men about highway mat
ters and said that while in Philadel
phia for the week end he saw a num
ber of men well versed in such matters.
He may have an appointment of
importance to announce to-morrow.
