at Beginning This
Morning
New York, Dec. s.—The first open
session of trading in all the shares
listed on the Stock Exchange began
to-day with a further general rise
which was participated in by the so
called international group. Including
Union Pacific, Southern Pacific, Can
adian Pacific, Baltimore and Ohio, and
IT. S. Steel. Most of these issues made
conspicuous gains over July SO prices,
particularly steel and Canadian Pa
cific. Steel was offered in largo blocks
and Southern Pacific also changed
hands In round amounts. The balance
of the list was inclined to resume its
upward movement of the two preced
ing sasions. Within the first fifteen
minutes, however, it became apparent
that offerings were In excess of de
man and numerous substantial re.ces-
I sion set In with declines of 1 to 3

Heavy Attendance Greets Resump
tion in Wall Street
Today
New York, Dec. 15.—Open trading
in all shares listed on the New York
Stock Exchange subject only to two
restrictions was cfsumed to-day for
the first time since the Exchange was
closed on July 30 last.
The big speculative and railroad is
sues, held the world over, which were
transferred inte yesterday afternoon
from the restricted to the unrestricted
list —subject to minimum prices—
opened with an upward swing, and
within the tirst few minutes of trading
made gains of IVi to 4 points over
the quotations of July 30. Then cam©
a heavy selling onslaught. Under this
pressure most issues declined from
substantial fractions to 3 points un
der yesterday's closing prices.
There was a heavy attendance at the
opening to greet the resumption of
open trading. The floor was crowded
with almost as many mem tiers as at
tended the opening, last Saturday, al
though the spectacular effect of the
crowded galleries was lacking. The
crowd was concentrated around the
posts where United States Steel and
Union and Southern Pacific stocks
were traded in; the rest of the room
seemed almost deserted. The market
was very active.
