TELEGRAPH CLASSIFIEI AIS WILL MAKE AMI SAYE YOU MONEY
The Best Gift
Every family should own their own home.
The possession of a home makes for better citi
zenship, no matter how humble or palatial the home
may be.
You could make your family supremely happy
if you gave them a home as a Christmas gift.
It is not necessary to pay the full purchase price
down. Many good, substantial homes come out of
making a small initial payment and caring for the
rest in easy monthly instalments, thd same as rent.
Talk it over with j our wife to-night, read all the
houses for sale in the Telegraph Classified Ads, and
see if you cannot make this the Merriest, Happiest
Christmas of all for your family.

PREDICTS Jl Ml' IN SUGAR
Moutniin Hert Grower Cays Prlee Will
He Or 910 Per Hundred
Chicago. 111,, Dec. 11. An opinion
of what the American citizen will have
to pay for sugar in the future, set forth
by T. S. Hogan, of Billings, Mont., presi
dent of the Interstate Beet Growers"
Association, looks a bit extreme. lie
says the price will lump to $S a hundred
within tlie next eighteen months, and
possibly to $lO. The shortage will grow
greater and greater as the months go
on, he declared. The cutting oft of ex
ports from Europe was set forth as the
principal reason for expecting this rise.
The particular occasion for making
this prophecy is to show the growers
of sugar beets that they must demand |
better pay from the sugar companies.
Mr. Hogan suggests a flat rate of $0 a
ton, along with a division of the profits.
Also, there should be a stipulation that
the United States Department of Com
merce shall act as arbitrator in case of
disputes. In the absence of a participa
tion in the profits, the flat rate should
be $7 to SO. he says. The Michigan grow
ers already have contracted at $6. The
farmers are tirjed to plant on a large
scale.
GERMAN'S ARK NEAR WARSAW

ed For Ntrngetir Reasons
I.ondon, Dec. 11, 12.10 P. M.—The
reported rout of the Austrian forces
in Servia, the borders of which coun
try they crossed triumphantly just two
weeks ago, together with the steady
advance of the German center in the
direction of Warsaw, on this, the third
German invasion of Russian Poland,
dominate the war news to-day.
After occupying Lodz the Germans
have been pushing to the northeast to
ward Warsaw along the railroad and
one dispatch from Petrograd estimates
that they are only fifteen miles from
the Polish capital, while another mes
sage from Petrograd. speculating on
the possible fall of Warsaw, warns the
Russian people that the abandonment
of the this city, if such a move be
comes necessary, should be regarded
as a strategic operation on the part of
the Russians rather than a decided
German victory. It will be recalled
that a similar view was expressed
when the Russians retired from Eodz.
