OUARANTIIiIE STAYS FOR 41 COUNTIES State Livestock Sanitary Board Modifies the Regulations For Foot and Mouth War The State Livestock Sanitary Board late to-day Issued an order releasing twenty-six counties from quarantine Tor the foot and month disease and shipments of cattle hitherto prohibited except under State permit will be al lowed. Conditions will be closely watched in the remaining forty-one and when the situation warrants there will bo further modifications. New cases were reported to-day from MMllin and Northampton coun ties, where the disease had not been reported before, but It was stated that they are isolated cases and have been tracod through shipments. Reports submitted to the board showed that conditions were generally Improving in most of the infected counties and that there had been no necessity for arrests for vlolattau of regulations. Penn School Pupils Learn Geography by Pictures Pupil 3 of the Penn school building. Seventh and Cumberland streets, got together last Spring and decided that they wanted a s;ereoptlcon lantern. Assisted by the teachers of the school the boys and girls gave a festival and did other little things to get money with the result that the school now has a fine lantern, and aluminum screen. This Is the only one of the public school buildings in the city with the exception of the high schools that has a projection lantern. It is used on Friday of each week and slides on geography are shown to the grammar grades and charts on reading to the three tlrst grades. The pupils of the school are proud of the lantern and think it one of the tlnest in the city. Think Stable Fire Was of Incendiary Origin j Fire, believed to be of an incendiary origin, last night partially gutted the warerooms and garage of Dives, Pom eroy &• Stewart, in Ninth street near Market. The building, known as the Simon etti stables, is a brick structure. The loss is estimated at SI,OOO. Charles Schriver, a driver for Dives, Pomeroy & Stewart, who was about to leave for home between C.30 and 7 o'clock, discovered a light on the sec ond floor. He called to a man on the outside to send in an alarm. The man replied: "Oo to li—! Send In your own alarm," and ran away. After sending in the alarm from Box No. 41, at the Heading station, Mr. Schriver returned and saved five j trucks, a runabout and a small tour j ing car. Few horses were in the (stable and all were taken out safely. ! The Are burned the lower portion of the building, part of the second floor, ; on which were stored mattresses, fur niture and bedding, and a small por tion of the third floor, where decora tions were kept.
