July 23.—The town of Greenwood wns wrecked by fire to day which was discovered about 6 o'clock this morning in the general store owned by Emery Willey. in the heart of the town near the Delaware Railroad station. Mr. Willey's store was quickly destroyed, together with its contents, and the flames soon spread to the residence of Mrs. John Willey, which was also consumed. The resi dence of A. B. Records was next to take fire and a determined effort to check the flames was made here, but without result. Mrs. Maggie Records' department store, adjoining, next fell a prey to the fire and was soon wrecked. Other buildings destroyed were the post office, an apartment house occu pied by four families, M. F. Bennet's hardware store, G. AY. Am,merman's drug store and dwelling adjoining and several small buildings. By noon, with the assistance of fire men from Dover. Milford, Seaford and other towns, the fire was suppressed. In all thirty buildings, stores, houses »nd stables were destroyed and several others scorched and otherwise dam aged. The loss is estimated at $60,000, about half of which is covered hy in surance.
