BLOCKADE SUSPENSION
CHANGES SPECULATION
Conspicuous Strength in Few Prominent Shares Lent Im
petus to the Rally
By Associated Press
New York. June 8. Suspension of
the Tampico blockade by the Mexican
Government changed the course of
speculation. Traders who had sold on
the belief that a serious crisis was im
minent bought back their stocks and
the list quickly overcame the initial de
pression. Conspicuous strength In a
few prominent shares lent impetus to
the rally. Speculation was more active
on the upturn, with concerted buying in
a few issues such as Canadian Pa<Mlic,
New Haven and Beet Sugar. Buying
came chiefly from the short interest.
Engagement of $4,500,00 more gold for
export was without adverse influence
in view of the favorable bank state
ment of Saturday and the accumulation
of idle funds here.
Bonds were steady.
