Grand Commandery of Knights of Malta Lowers Per Capita Tax For Year Special to The Telegraph York. Pa., May 14.—Pennsylvania Grand Commandery, Knights of Malta, placed the per capita tax for the en suing year at 30 cents at yesterday's session. Pottsville was selected for next year's session, and James L. Penney, Jr., of Commandery No. 145, McKocsport, was chosen grand senti nel. A reduction of two cents in the per capita' tax was recommended by the finance committee after an effort bad been made to decrease it from 32 cents to 28 cents; Supreme Commander M. A. Conder, of Allentown, made an address in which he complimented the Pennsyl vania grand commandery for its re markable growth and healthy condi tion. Past Commander Herman B. Furlong presented the grand com mandery with a gavel made from a railroad tie laid in Panama in 1852. Public memorial services were con ducted at noon in memory of thirty two members of the grand command ery who died last year. The Rev. <'lina S. Miller, of Mt. Carmel, grand prelate, presided and delivered the oration. A total of $51,192.39 was distributed among dependent companions and widows last year. Two public processions were held Inst night. Whether anything definite will be decided upon, President Harry A. Boyer, of the school board, was unable to say last evening. The school au thorities, he said, are anxious in every way possible to aid the health bureau in maintaining the health of the city. The conference was for the pur pose of discussing the quarantine regulations in the 'schools and the proper observance of precautionary measures. A plan suggested was that a system of cards be established whereby the dates, time of quarantine necessary, and other data can be dis tributed among the children; thus the length of quarantine could be defi nitely established and a*i accurate card index system of these facts, kept. The concensus of opinion appeared to be that twenty-one days is too lengthy a time in which to insist upon quaran tine for the milder cases. TRACT OF I
