characterized the preceding session.
Initial gains were soon converted into
equally slight losses and the main ten
dency of the morning was downward.
The impulse lent by indications of an
early decision "in the freight rates case
seemed to have spent its force and with
no new influence to take Its place
speculative interest waned.
