new bureau of statistics of the State
Department of Agriculture. This bu
reau, which was organized last fall bv
the appointment of L. H. Wlble, of
Fulton, as chief, secured the data for
its first report from assessors nnd
farmers in the various counties of the
State for 1913.
The report shows that the total
value of these eight staples grown on
an aggregate of 7,800,000 acres was!
$168,770,000 in a State which Is pre
eminently known as a producer of
iron and steel, coal and oil. The fig
