Boran Tribesman in
Africa Kill 200 Members
of Rival Rendile Tribe
By Associated Press
Nairobi, British East African Pro
tectorate, Feb. 14. —Boran tribesmen
exterminated recently an entire vil
lage, composed of 200 men, women
and children of the Rendile tribe, in
the Lorlan swamp, in the northern
part of the protectorate, according to
an explorer who reached here to-day.
The Borans, who are a peaceful
people engaged in pastoral ocupations,
have been incessantly harassed by the
Itendiles. This so exasperated tho
Borans that they retaliated by killing
every one of the Rendile tribe they
could find.
The authorities in Galla were un
able to prevent the raid and news of
the quarrel between the two tribes dicl
not reach teh British authorities at
Sumbury, on the Uganda railway, until
it was too late for them to interfere.

LITTLE CHANGE NOTED
IN MARKET DURING WEEK
Operators Did Little and Buiness Drifted on Idly; Out
side Buying Diminished
By Associated Press
New York, Feb. 14. There was no
essential change this week In the
speculative position, and the stock mar
ket continued to move back and forth
within an unusually narrow gauge '
without alterations of importance In '
the general level of quotations. Opera
tors did little and the market drifted
on idly. Outside buying diminished,
but it was apparent that a good sized
short interest had been buiTt up and
the undertone was firm.
Business conditions gave evidence of
further Improvement, statistical reports
from the copper and steel made strong .
showings, and the number of idle '
freight cars contracted. i
Money rates were easy. The market I
showed no effect of further exportation
or gold to France, which brought up
the total on this movement to $10,000,-
000. Accumulation of funds here and
the enlarged demand for high-grade in- i
vestments were reflected in the steady |
absorption of bonds. Various large
corporations made plans to enter the
market for new capital and irt one case
—that of the Southern Pacific —definite
arrangements were made for flotation
of a $55,000,000 issue of caliaterals.
