mug Railroad Company, iii , his office, at Readi.
leg, writnifuettired by barrels & Herring, and
the Sate in bap by 11. A. Lantz, in his' store,
manufactured by vans ' & Watson, and put in
books dintpapers precisely alike: '• , •
The fire was started at 8:1 o'clock, Al 11.,
and kept up - u ,teur 'cords :of gryen hickory,
two Ciirchi'dri; oak amid half chest= kali wood
were 'entirely: ceniennied, the whole under the
superintendence o. the subscribers, members
of the Committee. The Safes were then cool
el Off with' water, after which they were open
ed, and the books and papers taken out by the
'Committee and sent to ii. A. Lantz's store for
public'. examination, after they were brat 'ex
amined and marked by the Committee.- .The
books and papers taken hem the Safe manu•
factored by Evans S. Watson were bat slightly
affected by, the intense heat, while those token
from the Safe Manufactured by Farreli& Her
