GENTLEMEN :—We take much pleasure
in recommending your Salamander Safes
to Merchants and others in want of a se
cure means of preserving their books, pa.
pers, from tire, as the one we pur
chased Irom you about seven months since '
has preserved our hunks, papers and cash
in as good a COOditkOn AS they were
when put into it, before the great fire of
this morning,, which destroyed the entire
block of buildings corner of Chestnut and
Fifth streets. The safe was in use iri our
office, un the second floor of our building,,
from which :dace it fell into the cellar, and
. remained there until the fire was out.—
The Safe was then removed and opened
I it the presence of at least 1000 persons,
wit.) witnessed the good condition of the
contents: Will you please have the safe
' and locks repaired. as we intend to put it
lin use again, having perfect confidence
its fire-proof qualities.
