COOKED FOOD FOR HOGS.
4 .We were informed by H. L. Ellsworth,
Esq.; that he had satisfied himself by ek- .
peOine,ii of the advantages arising from it!. ,
sing cooked corn meal as food for swine,
s'heh &Siring to fatten them. He stated
that eighteen and a half pounds of cooked
meal would cause as much growth as fifty
ogepounds of raw meal.
We commenced the experiment our
iitlres about six weeks ago, with a pen of
24 hop, and thus far the result has been
ePtirely satisfactory, as the hogs are fully
'waned without consuming any greater
weight of meal, than they used raw before
commencing the present experiment.
Elixty gallons of water is caused to boil
in a large kettle, and thirty pounds of In
dian meal stirred in while boiling; in 20
mi,puten the mass becomes geletanous ; the
fue is now withdrawn or suffered to burn
oat Ai touch of this mixture is given to
the.hogs as they will eat three times a day.
ittletedisitety after finishing their meal they
gt:tta their sleeping room, and appear to
be fullyemployed in digesting what they
have asten. These hogs were thin when
they commenced, using the cooked food;

Ottarrnio WAX.—Many mixtures have
been proposed for this use, and each in
turn - bsobeen laid aside for cause. What
is called by sculptors "modelling wax" is
the best, as it is entirely proof against wa

by beat is not sufficient either to cause it
to tun or crack. It may be pressed into
