pretty thoroughly canvassed by both the

work of mischrel folly established by onr
opponents, but if we mar not be thought
speaking Tat bet prematurely, to them ft was
all of oe avail. We have indications of a
fraud victofy which has Wen, by as, antic

J9 the dictations of their own consciences ;
fcnt when undue and unfair advantages are
resorted to, by the Opposition, as have been

deemed loyal, palriotio nor necessary. Tbe
introdaction of military rule and lan into
lbs States fording this Union, is no longer
tolerated by the President of these United
States, save ia instances of extreme ne

It is not at all aingular that certain Re
publicans 6hou!d, when they are driven to
ilia wall, but not frank and air enough lo
admit the fact, deny that Grealy, Stevens fit
Co. are' leaders of tbe Republican party,
when infact these men are the only fathers
that party ever had. The shaky Republi
cans throughout Pennsylvania did not faca
their real issue. Even the Chairman of
tbe Republican State Central Committee
avoided, denied and warded off the issue as
much as it was possible for him to do in the
position he was placed. Tbe question of
negro suffrage, aud the only great question
before the people, these Republican leaders
of the weak kneed stripe, did not present to
the people in public speeches, but in their
actions they worked and assisted such men
as Greeley, Stevens, Kelly and Grow, to
carry out the aims and objects these Radi
cals have long labored for. The people did
not allow themselves to be deceived this
Fall if we mistake not. We feel pretty san
guine that the returns of this State will be
in favor of the Democracy. The Democrat
ic party will gain a decisive victory on the
negro suffrage question if every man ha.
performed the duties of a good citizen and
attended the polls.
Tbe Difference.
We have never known Democrats any
where, to disturb the meetings of the Abo
litionists. But for a few years past, when
the opposition thought themselves the stron
gest, or had bayoneia to back them, they
systematically carried out their mode of
conducting tbe campaign by sheer brute
force.
The last demonstration of that kind was
made-at CatawUsa.and it failed. We expect
to see the law and order Smut Machine de
fend tbe incipient mob, and applaud the
drunken rowdies. Il would be a fit thing
for ihe'rnan whoadvised his abolition friends
to Vg early to the election, and vote often."-

OrSVEYAWCIXG, NEATLY AND
P OMPTLY DONE, by C. O. BARK-
THE WEEKLY
FOR THE CAMPAIGN OF 18C5.
The political campaign just opening in
Pennsylvania is destined to be one of great
importance, and to have a powerful influ
ence upon the future of ihe country at large.
n a great measure it will determine the
gubernatorial contest of 1866, and hare an
Influence upon the presidential election two
years thereafter. But, more important, it
will probably determine the choice of the
next U. S. Senator from this Slate and thns
affect the legislation of Congress and the
restoration of peace to the land. It is,
therefore, of vital importance that every
exertion 6hould be made by every member
of our party to secure Ihe victory. Not
only 6hocld eveiy local organization be pnt
to work, but every honorable measns should
be adopted to stir up the apathetic and
lukewarm, aud to make new votes by con
version. Il can only be through the im
mutable and golden principles of Democra
cy that the couutry can be redeemed from
the thraldom of fanaticism, degradation and
taxation. Outside the Democracy iheie are
no principles. The role of action of the
opposition is ever changing one thing to
day something else to-morrow. Il is held
together merely by expedients the latest
and mol outrageous of all being the mod
ern, six-months political trick of negro
suffrage. To defeat this, and all other
ecJ.emes of the Abolition-shoddy hordes
who live only to plunder and tyrannize, let
every Democrat arouse and gird on the
rusty armor of his fathers in Democracy
of Washington, oi Jefferson, of Jacksou
and march to battle and to victory !
THE WEEKLY PATRIOT AND UNION.
As the Central organ of the Democratic
party the Weekly Patriot and Union has
acquired a lare and moie diffused circu
lation than any other Democratic journal
in the State. It has heretofore occupied
an influential position as an able and in
dustrious worker in the cause of Democ
racy, and its friends say that it still contin
ues to be a valuable organ of the party.
It is noi for us, however, lo puff our own
work. If we have been faithful to the
cause of the party and the country, we
hope every Democrat will make it an ob
ject to extend our field of operations, by
adding to our list oi subscribers. The low
price of the Weekly in comparison with
the amount of matter furnished, makes it
one of the cheapest of newspapers. We
hope every good Democrat who reads this
will send his oame and 2 50 for a copy for
one year. It this is too much for those who
are very poor, let all such send ns fifty
cents each, and receive ihe Weekly Patriot
and Union for the campaign. The folio v

I procured a bottle of it. The first dose
relieves ihe difficulty of brearhins, and be

bottle it was entirely well. Every family
should have it in their house.
