THE IVKW YORK IEWS. THE HCSTPAPErIs THE WORLD, n. Wood, Ed. and Proprietor IIP cr? ced ss ip ci5 a ss The Democracy of the North will" com mit a fa'al error if they accept the result of he late Presidential eler-tion as an iiut'ma ion from lhf hand of DeMiny lo relax their political action ontil the opening o tthe next campaign. The fu'ure welfare o ihe republic depends upon the politic a zeal and activity of the Democracy durins the year 1863. The small rmjoriiy of the popular vote that elected the Black Republican candU dates, considered in. view of the extraordi nary "resources of the Administration for corruption and compulsion; attests that the power of the D? morracy, on a fair field, i equal lo the vindication of Democratic principles. There is one feature in the result of tha Presidential election that goes far to re concile the patriot to the hard fate of hi country under four yenrs inore of Black Republican misrule. The baleful meteor that lingered in grief while in onr political atmosphere has vanished for ever. War Democracy has fulfilled its mission of dis organization, and like any other pestilence will be remembered only for the evil it has done. The issue row before the people is the final struggle between Centeraliztion and Stales' Right, and no journal i Democra l ic that is no; the devoted champion of States' Rights, the paramount principle ol the Democratic faith. , The New York News needs no testimony beyond it plain unalterable record loenb Untiate its claim to being and having been the mot earnest, able and conis'teni States' Rights Journal in the land. We have no excuses to invent for modifications of sentiment, nor have we to pit ad "ex pediency" in palliation of inconsistency. Onr path ha? been straight forward. Our columns are belore the people, not a line in them that we would cancel nor senti ment we wcnld recall, not an assertion that requires an exp!anaion, not a word that we regret io have' ut'.ered, not a prin ciple advocafod that we have not stood by and will stand by to the last. Such - ha been our pafrt record, so will be our future. We do tiot, however, ask the Democracy to sustain oa in our mNsiop a a reward for the servicu we have done, bnt in con sideration of the pood work that we pro pose to do. The Nw York News for 1865 will Dot merely imitate its predcesor, it will excel them. It shall be not only the truest exponent cf Democratic principle, but the best nnpaper in the country. Heretofore it nas nau no superior as a ve hicla of news, hereafter it shall have no equal. In every department of jrurnalim we have arranged that the News Fhall dis tance competition. It is the only Demo cratic newspaper in the metropolis that ha the advantage of publishing a daily issue with the full dispatches of the Assonated Press, and therefore its machinery for fur nishing a complete record of events is more perfect than that of any of i's Demo cratic coiemporaries. None have attempt ed latterly, to compete with it in the publi cation ol Souther i intelligence, as onr ytem of exchange with Sonihern journals baffles te sagacity and enierprisw of i-ur rivals. A glance at the columns of The News devo ed lo :Souiherti and Northern per sonalir' will remark Ihe extraordinary sur cees that has attended our enterprise in that dirertion. We are in daily receipt of letters expre-ina the lhnk ol those who, throuzh the medium ol the ''Personal" in The News, have been enabled to receive tidiri2s from (heir friends end relatives in the South, and the heart of many an exile and wanderer ha ben gladdened through that instrumentality by words of affection and hope from those mourned for as 1ead The New York News has become so popclar in the rural district that otlur ile tropolitan primal, in pubrhirg their stereotyped boat of "the largest circufa lion of any weekly joorrval" are constrain ed to mate an exception in our favor It j i a significant circumstance that since the ! Presidential election and consequent de mise of War Democracy, the subwrip'iotis to this paper have been unu.-Dally numer ous. The Agriculiora' Department of The New York News renders it an invaluable companion and assistant to the farmer ; and its Cattle, Market and Produce fid ports are more reliable and full than those of any other journal.
