THIS MACHINE HAS POINTS OF SUPE
RIOR1TY PECULIARY ITS
OWN.
Stitching, Hemming, and Filling with
a Single Thread,
It forms a neat, even, and elastic seam,
which is warranted not to rip in wear, even
if the seam is cut at frequent intervale, and
also under all circumstances "to survive the
wash-tub.".
A Patented device of great utility to
learners, prevents the possibility of the ma
chine being rUD in the wrong direction, or
the balance wheel wearing a lady's dress.
Another feature which deserves particu
lar attention is GTTHE WILCOX PATENT
NEEDLE CANNOT BE SET WRONG.
Two thousand Stitches, or two yards of
work, can be done in one minute without
dropping a stitch.
These Machiaes, so simple and accruate
in their construction, supersede the use of
the shuttle; and with one thread produce
all the practical results of the two thread
machines; and more, for these le'l without
basttng, and hem the finest muslin without
puckering.
Although at about balf the price of the
other first class machines, they will accom
plish double the sewing in a given time
"It is emphatically the good, low priced
Family Sewing Machine that the public
bavt long been waiting for." Boston Tran
script. "It is indeed a wonderful production, and
and for family use especially, no other will
bear any comparison whh it." Pailadel
phia,Evening Journal."
A mechanical wonder.'-ScientiGc Amer
iccan. "Among the best and most serviceable
Sewing machines. Light and elegantly
finished, and so simple in its construction
that it seems almost impossible for it to get
out of repair." Pittsburg Chtonicle.
"Has combined with its own peculiar
merits all tbe really valuable improvements
of the higher priced machines." -PenneyU
vanian.
"This machine, in the opinion of the
committee, fills more nearly the require
ments of a perfect family machine than any
on exhibition.' Franklin Institute Exhibi
tion Report ol 1858.
"Taking into consideration simplicity,
cheapness, durability, and doing all work,
th rommir.ee were unanimous in favor ol
the Wilcox &Gibbs as a single thread ma
chine." Pennsylvania Slate Agricultural
Society's Report.
"We must, in Justice, express our confi
dence in the merits of the Wilcox & Gibbs
Sewing Machine. We consider that a great
desideratum has been supplied by it, in
proving, beyond coubt, that two threads are
not, as was supposed, necessary to a good
instrument." Christian Advocate and Jour
nal, June 21, 1860.
"We have one of these machines in use,
and think more highly of it than of any ol
the number we have tried.' Richmond
Whig.
The undersigned, Missionary to Constan
tinople, has examined more than twenty
different kinds of Sewing Machines, and
after some six weeks' experience with
Wilcox & Gibbs' Patent, be has purchased
one of '.hem as the best adapted to the

To be assured of this, ii is only necessary
to make the trial. The Wine itcelf in ol

third stronger than other wines; wurmirio
and invigorating the whole system from the
head to the feet. As these Bitters are tonic

strengthen and invigorate the whole sys

to all its parts, by equalizing the circulation
removing obstructions, and producing n
general warmth. They are also excellent
for Dilates and Weakness peculiar to FE

strengtheh and brace the system. No Lady,
who is subject to lassitude and faintness,
should be without them as they are revivi

Dr. Dods' Celebrated Wine Bitters
For fiore Throat, so common among the
Clergy, they are truly valuable.
For the aged and Infirm, and for persons
of a weak constitution, for Ministers of
the Gospel, Lawyers, and all public speak

ing a sedentary lite, they will prove truly
beneficial.
As a Beverage, they are wholesome, in
nocent, and delicious to the taste. They
produce all the exhilarating effects of Bran
dy or Wine, without intoxicating; and are
a valuable remedy for persons addicted to
the us8 of excessive sirona drink, and who
wish to refrain from it. They are pure and
entirely free fiom the poisons contained in
in the adulterated Wines and Liquors with
which the country is flooded.
These B'nters not only CURE, but PRE

who live in a country where the water is

The many certificates which have been

among the women those Bitters havo giv

his practice for the last twenty-five years.
The proprietor, before purchasing the ex

a valuable remedy for disease.

United Slates, acquainted with their medi

In all newly settled places, where there
is always a large quantity of decaying tim

created, those bitters should be used every

The seam is so strong if well done, that Ibe

7. Among the array of Pa'ent Sewing

is rather too light of conduction.
10. But we all admit, that the advantage
to health, and principally to the vision or
eyesight, induced-by ihe use of Sewing

unfaeleied or open, there is a way lor it
too, thus you can have it fastened or not,
as you please, which is, sometimes, espe
cially for beginners, a very favorable cir

you can draw it out in three seconds and
save the thread.
